Tom skipped film school opting to sharpen his tools on the job, working under some of Australia's most acclaimed directors: Garth Davis, Mark Molloy, and Glendyn Ivin. Tom was enlisted to work closely with Garth Davis as Splinter Unit Director on his critically acclaimed feature film LION (2016) and has since worked as 2nd Unit Director with Justin Kurzel (SNOWTOWN, MACBETH) on the Apple TV+ series, SHANTARAM.
Tom has been moving between documentary work, music videos, and commercials as well as developing a slate of narrative film projects of his own. His significant documentary film exhibition They Cannot Take the Sky — portraits of Australian asylum seekers in their own words — was awarded a prestigious Museums and Galleries National Award (MAGNA) in 2018, as well as The Melbourne Award for Multiculturalism and his photography has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across Australia.
